WELCOME TO OUR NOVICE TRACKDAY PAGE . . .
We understand that some track day beginners may be somewhat reluctant
to take part in a European track day, and going to Europe may
well be the furthest thing from their mind when searching for
a novice track day, or some superbike instruction. However, the
truth is that our track days in Spain are in many ways a much
better introduction to track riding than a UK event, and are in
fact the ideal beginners track day. There are several reasons
for this…
UNCROWDED VENUES... Firstly, the track will
be far less busy than you’ll find on most UK days. For example,
Almeria Circuit is similar in size & length to Donington GP
Circuit, and we will typically have no more than around 30 riders
in the novice group at Almeria. That compares very favourably
with the 60 + riders that are likely to be in each group at Donington.
Fewer riders on track means more space for you to do your own
thing, less overtaking, and fewer stoppages. When 30 riders are
spread around a 2.5 mile circuit, it is almost like having the
place to yourself!
PLENTY OF TIME... On a UK day you have one day
to learn the track, whereas on Track Sense event in Spain you
have 3 days. Most novice group accidents are caused by riders
trying to go fast before they have learned the track properly,
but when you have 3 days to learn the track, that problem is eliminated
so you can take your time and build your pace gradually.
LOADS OF TOP QUALITY PHOTOS... Then there are
the photos to consider… We all like to take home a nice
souvenir – especially if it’s one of our first trackdays.
And naturally, we want look good in our photos! On a UK day, the
photographer only has one day to do his job, so typically he will
to take photos in the morning (while you are learning the track),
and sell them in the afternoon (when you are just starting to
get quicker is some of the corners). On top of that, the photographer
can normally only manage to take photos at a couple of corners
(simply because there is not enough time to cover the rest), and
these are inevitably going to be your two worst corners! These
problems do not exist on our events because we use a first class
professional photographer, and he is out there taking pictures
for all 3 days – so there’s time for you to get to
grips with the circuit, and there’s time for him to cover
every corner.
RELAXED AND SOCIAL... Our events in Spain are
rather like a weekend break for most. So there’s a relaxed
holiday atmosphere, and a very strong social element to enjoy.
The relaxed atmosphere leads to relaxed riders on track, which
in turn leads to better, more considerate riding. The people you
ride with during the day will be in the bar the same evening so
you’re sure to make new friends very quickly.
SAFETY FIRST... Unlike many trackdays in Spain,
ours are not “open pit lane”… This is reassuring
for any novice because nobody wants to be thrown in the deep end
with the fast group when they don’t have the experience
to run at that pace. And regardless, 3 days riding 20 minutes
per hour is more than enough for anyone – in fact, nobody
(not even the experts) does every session because the track time
on offer is far more than they need, so what’s the point
of an open pit lane?
PROPER INSTRUCTION... We have first class instructors,
and unlike some, we do not use unpaid volunteers that tend to
be more interested in getting some free tracktime than they are
in helping people out. Anyone that has done trackdays before may
be familiar with the “if you want instruction, go to the
top of pit lane at the start of the session” routine –
only to find that every time you go there, all of the instructors
are out whizzing round, or busy with someone else. This problem
doesn’t happen at our events because we pay our instructors
to do their job, and we run a tuition booking system, so you can
book your tuition in advance and be certain of getting some help.
And our instructors are among the best there is – good communicators
with a serious racing pedigree. On top of that, we have a free
novice classroom session every day – this helps get you
quickly up to speed with the basics techniques required for track
riding (see our trackday support services page for more info).
MECHANICAL BACKUP... We also have experienced
mechanics on hand and a tyre sales & fitting service at the
track. Help with suspension setup is also available if you need
it.
And finally, as you may have already noticed, we have some very
special wrap-up prices for novices that attend our events at Almeria
(see our trackday dates & prices page for more info).
70% of all the riders on our events are repeat customers, and
another 20% are by word of mouth recommendation – and that
is no accident. There is a difference, so maybe it’s time
you found out why?
