What we used to have here was a list of all the flights available
from the various UK airports to the various airports in Spain
that you can use for our trips – but to be honest, availability
is changing constantly and it was impossible to keep the information
up to date… So what we now have is some general advice and
information that will help you find the best flights to suit your
needs.
BOOK EARLY
First things first – book your flights early to get the
best prices. While there are very occasionally some cheap deals
to be had “last minute”, most flights get more and
more expensive (and often full!) the nearer you get to the departure
date. So in the vast majority of cases, you will get a much better
deal if you book early. Please make sure you check event availability
with us before you book your flights!
WHICH AIRPORT?
A list of the tracks we’re visiting and the nearest airports
to them is shown below – the approximate driving time from
the airport to the hotel(s) we use for each event are shown in
brackets – as you can see, for most events there are several
airports within striking distance, so that should give you plenty
of options for flights. Note that we can arrange car rental for
collection and return at the same airport, or for collection at
one airport and return to a different airport, and most other
car rental outlets can do the same. There is usually no extra
fee to pay if you want to return your car to a different airport,
so bear this in mind when looking for your flights.

WHICH AIRLINE?
There are literally dozens of airlines to choose from –
the obvious starting point is Easyjet and Ryanair because they
both have a wide range of flights from various airports in the
UK to the various airports you can use in Spain. But don’t
forget to check the smaller airlines such as BMI and Monarch because
they often have reasonably priced flights that might suit you
(especially if you live in the Midlands or the North), and also
check the bigger airlines such as British Airways because their
flights are not always expensive.
If you want to get some pointers of where to look, try some of
the websites that sell flights – there are loads to choose
from, and an internet search for “flights to Spain”
will bring them all up for you – just enter your departure
airport and destination and you will be able to see who offers
that route.
Whether you are in Scotland, the North, the Midlands, the Southeast,
the West, or in Ireland, there will almost certainly be direct
flights available from an airport near you to one of the airports
within striking distance of the circuit.
If you are really stuck, Iberia and British Airways have flights
from the UK to just about any airport in Spain, although often
these are not direct flights (you may have to go via Madrid or
Barcelona in a lot of cases – which can add a few hours
to your journey), and they can be quite expensive.
HOW MUCH DO FLIGHTS COST?
The price of flights varies wildly – basically it’s
all down to supply and demand – but now that the government
has taxed flying more heavily, the days of getting flights for
£50 return are (almost!) gone. However, if you book early,
you will very often find flights for less than £100 return
and you shouldn’t really have to pay much more than £150.
If you don’t mind travelling light, and you transport your
leathers with your bike, you can opt for hand luggage only –
this will save the £20 or so that many airlines charge for
hold baggage these days.
